I seem to be at a dead-end on my search for someone. Where can I turn for help?

Spies Online offers a forum where users can post questions.
Not all people who reply will necessarily be qualified to do so. If you are unsure of someone's credentials, you should be wary of taking any advice from that person. No guarantees are made on the accuracy of any information you may find or recieve on or from this site. Needless to say, it is always best to get personal advice from a professional licensed to practice in your area. It is also unadvisable to post very personal information on a public forum. Due to the large volume of e-mail that the site receives, we cannot guarantee a reply if you e-mail the site through the contact form. If you need urgent help, contact a licensed professional in your area.

How much does it cost to locate a person?
This varies from case to case. Some people can be found simply by using free online directories and public record resources. Other people can be found relatively inexpensively for nominal handling/lookup fees. If you need the services of a private investigator, it could cost more (or less) than it would to find the person yourself. Naturally, it is advisable to try to utilize free methods to locate someone first. If that cannot be done, you will have to decide what other methods you might want to try depending on your financial situation.

There are a lot of resources on the Spies Online site for finding people. Where do I begin?
Try the Spies Online library page for links to articles that may help you. It is also highly recommended that you read Joseph Culligan's book "You Can Find Anybody!" from cover to cover. He's also written some other books, and you are encouraged to check them out.

Are the investigators listed on the Spies Online web site endorsed by Spies Online?
No. It is up to the person hiring a private investigator or taking the advice of a private investigator to check out the qualifications of that person. A listing or advertisement on Spies Online does not constitute an endorsement by Spies Online in any way, shape or form. This is the Internet, folks, and anyone can list themselves in a directory. Spies Online will naturally remove a listing if it is brought to our attention that someone is misrepresenting himself or something like that. If you wish to use our directory, you must agree to check out the licensing, bonding and insurance information of anyone listed in the directory before using their services. In the US, you may check out someone's credentials with the state licensing board for your state. Use any information or services that you find listed on the Spies Online website completely at your own peril. If you do not agree to these conditions, then you are not invited to use any information on our directory pages or site. The same rules apply if you use a link to another directory that is not hosted by Spies Online, as Spies Online has no control over what information is contained on other sites.

Is it possible to find anyone using the Spies Online site and associated links?
There is a very good chance that the site will be able to help you, but of course, Spies Online makes absolutely no guarantees.

I cannot afford to hire a private investigator, and I need to find someone dear to me. Will Spies Online do it for me?
Spies Online is not in the business of locating people; moreover, there are often fees and a lot of time associated with finding someone. Spies Online is unable to offer a free people-locating service. This is a resource site, not a PI service. This site is not affiliated with any other site that claims to be a private investigator or otherwise.

Are there any laws that I must follow when I am trying to locate someone?
There certainly are, and laws vary from place to place. For example, you may never misrepresent yourself as someone from a government organization in order to find someone. Spies Online offers links to many sites and those sites are constantly changing. Just because you read about something on a website does not make it legal, and be aware that information on a website does not constitute legal advice. If you break a law, you alone are responsible for any consequences. Rely on information that you see on this website at your own peril. This site is primarily for entertainment purposes. In using the Spies Online web site, no professional-client relationship is created or implied. You are responsible for finding out if something is legal before you do it.
